KitchenAid 9-Cup Food Processor Review

While doing the research, we found there were quite a few reviews with mixed opinions on the KitchenAid 9-Cup Food Processor. Although most of the reviewers showed their satisfaction with this product, there were some complaints about this product as well.

The Pros:

  • This machine is quiet when in use. Great quality, top notch!
  • It’s very simple to clean up and all removable parts are dishwasher-safe.
  • It has a safety device to not start until all parts are safely in place.
  • With large rubber feet under the unit, it prevents the food processor from moving on the counter.
  • The blades are very efficient and chop/grate large amounts of food in seconds. For example, it can quickly grate a 3-lb block of hard cheese without a problem!
  • As for chopping, it chops very evenly and quietly. You can use the small bowl for easier chopping.

The Cons:

The major complaint about this KitchenAid 9-Cup Food Processor is the leakage from the bottom center opening.

Some people use this food processor as a blender. However, it’s very obvious that KitchenAid simply doesn’t want you to use this unit for liquefying. This is a food processor, not a blender.

This food processor is designed to process solid to semi-liquid food, not for thinner, runnier liquids. If you try to make more than 2-cup of liquid out of this so called 9-cup capacity this unit offers, you are going to see spill on the bottom of the bowl and be very frustrated.

A minor complaint is that mini-bowl cannot use the disc blades, only the chopping blade.

Oh, one tiny complaint is the plastic bowl scratches very easily, especially when you use a metal spoon to scoop out some puree.  Make sure you use a rubber scraper or the plastic one they include.

Bottom line…

Regardless of some complaints mentioned above, in general, the KitchenAid 9-Cup Food Processor is still a great buy for the features it offers.
